Grounded in History, Growing in Joy: A Black Futures Conference

Laurentian University’s Equity, Diversity, and Human Rights Office (EDHRO) invites you to a Black History Month celebratory conference on February 10. Grounded in History, Growing in Joy: A Black Futures Conference is a three-part event that brings together the Laurentian community and our community partners in celebration of Black history, legacy, and joy.

The conference opens with a keynote address by historian Dr. Amadou Ba, retracing the roots and evolution of Black history in Canada. This is followed by the Rooted in Joy sessions, featuring a panel discussion on experiences in the North, an art exhibition, and a community mingle with a tasting of African and Afro-Caribbean flavors.

The Rooted in Joy exhibition is presented in partnership with Peer Programs and will be on display throughout the month of February in the Parker Atrium.
