Sharon is the founder of Dame Más Dance and a scientist-turned-studio owner whose goal is to help adults feel confident, connected, and alive on the dance floor. Born in Toronto to Jamaican parents and later discovering Cuban roots through her maternal grandfather, her classes fuse cultural rhythm with clear, accessible instruction.

A self-described latecomer to partner dance, Sharon began formal training in 2015 with mentor Edwin Martinez at Panamania Latin Street Dancing in Thunder Bay. Captivated by Kizomba—the soulful partner dance from Angola—she earned her Level 1 Kizomba Teacher Training certificate from ALC Dance Studios (Portugal) in November 2016 and subsequently received Angolan government certification via Java Panzo, a respected Angolan DJ and instructor in Toronto. By 2017, Sharon was leading Kizomba classes and performing with Panamania, later expanding her repertoire to include Salsa and Bachata instruction.

Before opening Dame Más Dance in 2020, Sharon had completed a PhD in Nutritional Science at the University of Toronto. That background informs her clarity-first instruction: step-by-step progressions, sustainable technique, and a welcoming environment that turns first-timers into confident social dancers.

Beyond the studio, Sharon is committed to community building. Through dance fundraisers, Dame Más Dance has raised and donated over $7,000 to Thunder Bay nonprofits. Giving back isn’t a campaign—it’s core to the Dame Más Dance brand.

In addition to being a dance instructor, Sharon holds Zumba® Basic 1, Zumba Gold®, and STRONG Nation™ certifications, giving students multiple on-ramps to movement, whether they’re dance-curious or starting from “two left feet”. Her mission is simple: Experience the rhythm. Ignite your passion.
